Candlewick’s History
Candlewick Public School became a reality on the 18th of July 1987, inspired by the founder’s steadfast determination to improve the educational offering for the children of Jaipur.
When the school opened it’s doors with only seven students, it faced numerous teething problems including very few facilities and a small teaching faculty. These humble beginnings did not affect the main offering of the school however, which was to provide a quality education for each and every child.
Due to increased demand for places, the school soon relocated to its current location in Vidyadhar Nagar, where the rapid organic growth year on year has relied on word of mouth as the only marketing tool.
Over the years our building has changed, our students have graduated and moved on to successful careers, but our focus on quality teaching has always been key to our success. We select our teachers based on the following criteria:
(1) Previous experience.
(2) Academic and family background.
(3) Personal appearance including their body- language.
(4) Ability to reach out to and motivate the students.
(5) Willingness to work in a team.
The non-teaching staff is selected on the basis of their potential efficiency and their willingness to work with children.
The Road Ahead
In 1987, no one could have predicted how quickly and successfully Candlewick would grow. The founders’ dream of making Candlewick’s name synonymous with quality education has come true. However, in the coming years and with the changing climate in the world of education, Candlewick will adapt and grow further to meet the demands of a predominantly digital age. Nevertheless, what will never change are the core values on which the school was originally founded: a quality, inclusive and all round education for each and every child.
